Reading Tips for More Experienced Readers

These reading strategies can be used in any order. They may
work best with students with some reading experience.

Ask the magic words,

"Do you want think time?"

Look at the picture and say
the beginning sound
of the word.

Take a running start.

Skip the word and come
back to it.

Break the word into parts.

Blend the letter sounds.

Make a meaningful
substitution.

Ask someone
(the last thing you do).
