NETWORK INFRASTRUCTURE AND EQUIPMENT

The Lockwood School LAN is built on a fiber optic backbone with category five wire run to 100% of the classrooms. Wires from classrooms terminate into patch panels located in ten wiring closets strategically placed throughout the campus. Each of the wiring closets is connected by a fiber run. Four servers provide student information management, data storage, file storage and email service. A T-1 line, router, CSU/DSU, and firewall with filtering services provide adequate bandwidth for the Lockwood LAN to enjoy solid and “fast” access to the Internet (WAN). Browsing and email software is installed on networked computers in classrooms, offices and labs. Remote access to Lockwood's network and email services is available through the Internet or through dial-up access for the Lockwood staff.

TEACHER TRAINING WITH TEAMS THEMES AND TECHNOLOGY

(T-5)

The T5 Consortium features a systematic process for integrating technology into the pre-service teacher education program from college entrance through student teaching. This process includes use of technology in pre-service teachers' own efforts as college students, in their observations of and work with teachers and students in technology-rich P-12 school settings, and in their involvement in externships in technology-intensive businesses and organizations within their local communities.

Lockwood will be part of the T-5 Consortium for the next 4 years as a K-8 support school. Lockwood's T-5 Team will provide mentorship in tech rich classrooms and model best tech integration practices for pre-service teacher observation. Members of the T-5 Team will attend national tech conferences to expand their skills in Technology integration.
