Britannica
Encyclopedia Britannica has decided to place the entire contents of its 32-volume
set online for free. Though a bit slow and sometimes buggy, Britannica.com is
now officially up and running, offering full access to the encyclopedia content
as well as articles from over 75 magazines.
Encarta
This site provides access to 16,000 abridged reference articles and the Encarta
world atlas. Searchable categories are provided.
Roget's Thesaurus
This site allows the user to search for works in alphabetical order and by topic.
Online Dictionary
A basic search for words can be done at this site. There are some other fun links
here such as daily crossword and word search puzzles as well as translation options
for other languages.
Bartlett's Quotes
This is a collection of familiar phrases, passages, and proverbs from ancient
and modern literature.
Rhyming Dictionary
The Semantic Rhyming Dictionary allows for a word to be put into a search field
and rhyming words will be retrieved. Words from one to several syllables are
provided. Several other options, including synonyms, antonyms, and pictures
are available in the pop down menu.
