BOARD OF TRUSTEES

The Board of Trustees will meet in a special session in the Board Room to
conduct the following business.
- Hire a teacher for the remainder of the 2011-2012 school year.
Colleen Ward is recommended for the Special Education teaching
position. She will attend the meeting, and her background check is
- Hire a coach for the 7th grade basketball. Keith Ahlgren is
recommended for the coaching position. He is a parent in our
community and has gone through the background check.
This is the only business at the meeting.
COMMITTEE WORK SESSION
After the close of the business meeting, a committee of the Board of Trustees
will discuss fees charged for the rental of facilities.

CALL TO ORDER NOVEMBER 29, 2011
Chair Tim Sather opened the special meeting, called it to order at 11:30 p.m. and led those present in the Pledge of Allegiance.
The following trustees and officers were present: Trustees Susanne Vinton, Caree Bernhart, Tim Sather, Becky Malenowsky, Jason Hamrick and Don Reed, Superintendent Eileen Johnson and District Clerk Laurie Noonkester. Trustee Tamara Spillum was absent.
The Board of Trustees will meet in special session in the Board Room to consider the hiring of a special education teacher for the remainder of the 2011-12 school year and the hiring of a coach for the 7th grade basketball program.
Mr. Sather welcomed visitors and advised the following:
Any person present who wishes to address the board or raise any question about public school district matters or governing policies may do so under public participation. No discussion of personnel or individual students is permitted at this time. A limit of three minutes is placed on each speaker. Persons who want more time may make arrangements to be placed on a future agenda. As a courtesy, all cell phones should be turned off. The public is also reminded that they may provide input on all motions being considered by the board at this meeting.
ITEMS FOR ACTION
A. Hiring of a Special Education Teacher for the remainder of the 2011-12 School Year.
Superintendent Johnson introduced Colleen Ward and recommends she be hired for the vacant Special Education teaching position. Ms. Ward's background check is completed and certification requirements have been met and verified.
Jason Hamrick made the motion to hire Colleen Ward as a Special Education Teacher for the remaining 2011-2012 school year as recommended. Don Reed seconded the motion.
Trustees Susanne Vinton, Tim Sather, Caree Bernhart, Jason Hamrick, Becky Malenowsky and Don Reed voted yes; the motion passed with a unanimous vote.
The Board welcomed Ms. Ward to the district.

B. Hire a Coach for the 7th Grade Basketball Program.
Superintendent Johnson recommends that Keith Ahlgren be hired as the 7th grade basketball coach for the 2011-12 season. She explained that there were no staff members that applied for the postion. Mrs. Johnson noted that Mr. Ahlgren is a member of the Lockwood Community and has completed all background check and coaching requirements.
Caree Bernhart made the motion to hire Keith Ahlgren as the 7th grade basketball coach for the 2011-2012 season as recommended. Susanne Vinton seconded the motion.
Trustees Susanne Vinton, Tim Sather, Becky Malenowsky, Caree Bernhart, Jason Hamrick and Don Reed voted yes; the motion passed with a unanimous vote.
Trustee Vinton noted that MTSBA is in need of a trustee to serve as a member of the Multidisciplinary Study Group and is asking if anyone from the Lockwood Board is interested in serving in this capacity.
Superintendent Johnson noted that she met today with representatives from Yellowstone County and Montana Department of Transportation to discuss the installation of street lighting for the Hillner Street, Hwy 87 and Piccolo Street intersection. These lights are badly needed to improve the safety of students while walking to and from school.
No further business was discussed.
Susanne Vinton moved to adjourn the meeting at 11:41 p.m. Jason Hamrick seconded the motion.
Trustees Susanne Vinton, Tim Sather, Becky Malenowsky, Caree Bernhart, Jason Hamrick and Don Reed voted yes; the motion passed unanimously.
