3. Items for Action
- Approve minutes of previous meetings
- Approve bills and wages for May 2012
- Request to hire teacher
Britney Bancroft is recommended for hire as a teacher of special education for the 2012-2013 school year. She has four years of experience, most recently in Hardin.
- Request to hire classified staff
Jennifer Broadstone and Cindy Inman are recommended for hire as paraprofessionals for the 2012-2013 school year. Jennifer is a new arrival to our state and Cindy has been working as a paraprofessional at Independent School. Both are qualified according to regulations. Background checks have been completed and passed. Bryce Papke is recommended for rehire as a custodian for the 2012-2013 school year.
- Request to hire Athletic Director
Jesse Swanke is recommended for the position of Athletic Director. It is also recommended that he be permitted to coach softball and track. Both of these sports are in seasons with the least amount of other responsibilities.
- Recommitment to Eastern Yellowstone Special Education Cooperative
The Eastern Yellowstone Special Education Cooperative is requesting that each of the eight schools recommits for the upcoming school year. A motion to recommit to the Coop for the 2012-2013 school year with an appointment of a representative to the Board is needed. Tobin Novasio will be happy to serve in the capacity as your representative.
- Budget transfer
The attached sheet explains that MCA 20-9-208 allows for transfers from budgeted fund to budgeted fund whenever the trustees determine, in their discretion, that the transfer of funds is necessary to improve the efficiency of spending within the district. See attached prepared by Laurie Noonkester, Business Manager.
- Request to increase lunch fees
In order to be compliant with federal regulations we need to remain above the reimbursement for lunches for regular meal fees. Most likely we have to be increasing this for several years into the future. The reimbursement moves up with the cost of living. The lunch fees for next year should be 2.50 for elementary and 2.60 for middle school. The requirement to place fresh fruits and vegetables on the plates is impacting the overall cost of lunches, although healthy for the children. These fresh food items will no longer be just an option. See the attached sheet prepared by Laurie for calculations.
- Property and liability insurance contract for 2012-2013
Western States fee for next school year is $42,556, which is 7% more than the current year. MTSBA gave us a quote over $50,000. My recommendation is to remain with Western States.
- Approve bus routes for 2012-2013
Attached is a summary of the routes for the next year.
- Request to approve out of district attendance
This is a recommendation to approve out of district attendance for employees' families.
- Fill the position of interim Trustee for one year
- The attached letter from Peter Freivalds is presented for your consideration.
- Chris Rivers is interested in the one-year position as well, and will send a letter before Tuesday evening.
