CALL TO ORDER

The public bid opening meeting of School District No. 26, Lockwood Schools, Yellowstone County, was held in the Board Room, 1932 U.S. Highway 87, Billings, Montana on Thursday, July 12, 2007. 

Trustees and officers present were Trustees:  Jason Hamrick, Tim Sather, and Sue Vinton, and Superintendent Eileen Johnson and District Clerk Diane Brook. 

Registered guests present were Scott Chartier and Shane Flohr of High Tech Construction, Brian Ordeng, C & S Construction, and Eric Van Hemerick with JTL Group, Inc.

Terry Sukut of JGA Architects was also present.

Bids for Phase II (Bid Pack 2) of the Building/HVAC Remodel Project

Scott Chartier of High Tech Construction, Construction Manager for the project, advised that Phase II included Schedule I, Alternate I, Schedule II, and Schedule III.  Sealed bids were opened and read aloud by Mr. Chartier.

Scott noted that all four bidders provided bid security and used the correct bid form.  All but Geopier Foundation Company acknowledged Addendum No. 1.

Scott said High Tech Construction had received bids directly from some smaller sub-contractors for Schedule III. 

Terry Sukut asked about the irregularity of Geopier Foundation not acknowledging Addendum No. 1.  Scott replied that Addendum No. 1 had no affect on the work for which Geopier had provided a bid.  If they chose to accept this bid, the board would be asked to waive the irregularity.

Sue Vinton asked Scott to clarify the differences in using over-excavation or rammed aggregate piers as indicated in Alternative 1 and Schedule III.

Bid Opening Meeting

Art requested that High Tech Construction carefully evaluate the time ramifications of using Alternative 1versus Schedule II.

Scott advised that the bids would be taken under advisement.  On Tuesday, July 17, 2007, at 12:00 noon, there will be a special meeting of the Board of Trustees, at which the final decision will be made.  At that meeting Scott, representing High Tech Construction, will make a bid award recommendation to the board from the bids received today.

The meeting was concluded.
