PROCEEDINGS OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES
WORK SESSION MONDAY, AUGUST 2, 2004 5:30 P.M.
Vice Chair Teresa Stroebe called the meeting to order at 5:46 p.m. She led those present in the pledge of allegiance.
Board members and school officers present: Trustees: Gayle Walker, Thomas Jones, Barbara Forrester Frank, Teresa Stroebe, and Jim Painter, Superintendent Eileen Johnson, and District Clerk Diane Brook. Trustees Tim Trafford and Greg Bochy were absent.
Staff member present: Art Anderson
The purpose of the work session was discussion, review, and consideration of proposed 2004-05 budgets for all budgeted funds.
Business Manager Diane Brook reviewed the budget packet with the trustees. During the review process, the trustees, business manager, and superintendent discussed funding sources for the budgeted funds, budgeting rational and strategies, limits set by the state, taxable value, and permissive levies versus voted levies.
Diane advised that the certified taxable value had been received earlier in the day. The certified taxable value is $13,012,327, which is slightly lower than the estimate that had been used for the proposed budgets, but higher than last year. The certified rate will be reflected in the final budgets set forth for adoption at the August 10, 2004 board meeting.
Funding for a third crosswalk guard was discussed. It was the general consensus that it would be prudent to add salary for a third crosswalk guard to the Transportation Budget for 2004-05.
Thomas Jones moved to adjourn the meeting at 7:50 p.m. Barbara Forrester-Frank seconded the motion. Barbara Forrester-Frank, Jim Painter, Gayle Walker, Teresa Stroebe, and Thomas Jones voted yes. The motion passed five to zero.
