Chairman Trafford called the meeting to order at approximately 6:00 p.m.  He led those present in the pledge of allegiance.

Some of those present were: Tim Trafford, Teresa Stroebe, and Thomas Jones, Eileen Johnson, Mike Bowman, Darlene Hess, Conrad Stroebe, Wyeth Friday, Rich Pantoja, Carlotta Hecker, and Evelyn Pyburn.

ITEMS DISCUSSED OR REVIEWED DURING THIS SESSION WERE:

Projected population numbers for Lockwood 
290 lots may be developed soon. 
Over 2,000 lots are future development possibilities 
The sewer would add residential and commercial density.

Need for 15 additional classrooms due to:

  • New homes are being built.
  • Full-time kindergarten may be possible in the near future.
  • Additional classrooms are needed at the current time even with the new addition.

Size of schools and grade configurations within each building

Middle School students are the most deprived as far as needing educational space.
800-1,000 square feet is the best size for functional classrooms.

Review of maps illustrating room configurations for usage changes and expansion

Building a new Middle School was discussed. 

  • An informational sheet about Middle School classrooms and other needs was provided by the superintendent and reviewed by those present.
  • Bonding, informing the community, getting community response and support for a building project were discussed.
  • Estimation of two years to construct any type of building 

Remodeling and upkeep of existing facilities must be included in any future plan.

At the next meeting Supt. Johnson will provide information about how shared resources such as the SRO, nurse, mental health professionals, Facilities Director, and the After School Program, may be affected by a split campus.
