WIC services are for infants and children up to age 5, for women who are pregnant or have recently been pregnant, and for breastfeeding moms. Fathers and others caring for young children, including grandparents, legal guardians and foster parents may apply for WIC also. Families need to be income eligible for WIC benefits; income guidelines are based on gross income and family size. For example, a family of 4 with a gross income of less than $39,220 yearly can qualify for WIC.
WIC can make a difference. Studies show WIC contributes to healthier pregnancies and healthier babies and improves children’s health. The families who choose to participate in WIC are making a difference!
