Tobacco Team 2008 provided tobacco prevention information to their peers in 5th through 8th grades. They helped with presentations in all 5th grade health classes. The team offered tobacco prevention information to their classmates through period announcements, posters, banners and table tents as well as one on one discussions. They had a pledge wall available at lunch for their classmates to sign and pledge to not use tobacco.
The Health Department reports "It's rare for anyone to become a tobacco user after age 18. Almost 90% of people who have ever used tobacco began at or before age 18." The students who were on the tobacco team are Kaylee Kippenhan, Brianna Murdock, Greg Bourassa, Kerstyn Grinstiner, Madison Hinrichs, Bailey Williams, Jorion Lokken, Nicole Behnke, Miranda Millhollin, Angie Bacon, Ashlee Palmer, Jen Dietz, Amanda Hinrichs, Taylor McCabe, Jaclyn Tobin, Nick Palmer, Alyssa Tibor, Rylee Nelson.
