Kindergarten through second grade will attend school from 8:00 a.m. to 2:55 p.m. Kindergarten classes will be held all day, every day. The school day for students in grades three through eight will run from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

All kindergarten students will be screened for placement on Thursday, August 25, see the schedule on page 4. Directions to the screening area will be posted at the main office. An official shot record from the doctor/clinic and birth certificate are required to register children for kindergarten.

Funding Shortage
Causes Staff Reductions

For the past four years the district made use of One Time Only Funds from both the Montana and Federal Governments. These funds were used to finance positions instead of purchasing materials and supplies. Since these sources have been deleted and levies did not pass, the school board carefully considered a number of cost savings measures before making decisions.

The 2011-2012 school year will find fewer staff working at the schools. There will be two counselors instead of three, six fewer classroom teachers, nine fewer teacher aides, no art in K-5, one less custodian, one less maintenance worker, one less administrator, and fewer funds for supplies. The Gifted and Talented Program will have limited offerings as will the Intervention Program.
