Faculty Meeting

02/13/04

Behaviors of most Concern:

•  Adult authority – students not respecting teachers, aides, substitutes etc.

•  Respect for others and property

•  Hands-on behavior and the disrespect for others.

Interventions/ Consequences:

•  Committee will be formed (one member from each grade level and one from the electives)

•  Will meet at least twice for 1/2 days to begin work on MBI goals

•  Will work with Castle Rock to design our plan

•  Use the SRO more, he seems to be underused

•  Integrate into Home Room

•  Use SRO as the last resort when disciplining

ISS Issues

•  Aides centered out of office and not ISS room

•  Too much cush

•  Kids want to go there

•  Student aides go there when they do not have a teacher

•  Student aides could sit out in the hallway and be requested

•  Integrate community service type activities when work is completed

•  Possibly use the SRO to assist with the above mentioned

•  ISS is overused

•  Rules need to be looked at

•  Step system that spells-out the behaviors that will send students there.

•  What and what not can be used for ISS

•  Building rules that are the umbrella for behavior

•  OSS tied to the truancy center.

•  Too much adult conversations going on

•  Adult aides taking breaks and lunch in ISS room

Other Issues

•  Quarterly Locker clean-outs

•  All students attending homeroom activities will be counted tardy at the activity. The activity teacher will notify Karen if a student is tardy or absent

•  Study Opps.   Students need to report to class and stay there. No phone calls to teachers or running to classrooms for assignments. Too much moving around and freedom.

•  Tardy slips for lunch need to be given and some sort of consequence should be issued. This will be one of the first tasks for committee.
