Student Services

Lockwood School District contracts for nursing service through the Yellowstone City/County Health Department. We have a registered nurse for 37.5 hours a week at the school. A full-time health clerk is also employed to assist with medications and health record recording. Medical staff serve all three buildings and are located in an office centrally located near the Blue Room.

The nurse is responsible for the following:

  • Monitoring immunization status of all students
  • Medication given at school
  • Ongoing health records for each student
  • Ongoing health problem list for all students with health concerns
  • Development of emergency health care plans for identified students
  • First aid and communicable disease identification and treatment
  • Nursing duties as necessary (blood sugars, injections etc.)
  • Vision screening
  • Dental screening
  • Scoliosis screening
  • Hearing screening
  • Dental education for grade four
  • Growth and Development for grade five and grade six
  • Assisting with financial needs for health care as necessary
  • Staff education regarding specific health concerns and needs
  • Communication with parents regarding health concerns
  • Educational classes, including hand washing, dental, growth and development, etc.
