Gifted & Talented Purpose and Mission Statement

The purpose of the Gifted Education program at Lockwood School is to identify and serve those students who demonstrate academic excellence beyond that of their chronological peers regardless of race, gender, ethnicity, disability or socioeconomic status.

Our mission is to provide students who are uniquely gifted with educational opportunities to express themselves and explore a variety of options for growth. Academic rigor will be the catalyst for students to engage in relevant research, develop critical, creative, and higher level thinking skills. Problem solving strategies will be a platform upon which the students can begin to understand themselves and the world in which they live.

The intent is for students to expand their body of knowledge and begin to think of themselves as leaders, empowering them to become lifelong scholars, innovators, critical thinkers, and global citizens.
