Rodeo was a cultural sport during the 2002 Winter Olympic Games held in Salt Lake City, Utah. Dan qualified for the 2002 games by winning the Saddle Bronc Competition at the Copenhagen Cup Finale in late October, 2002.

In the Olympic competition, the US team competed against "Team Canada" from February 9, through February 11, 2002. Dan won a bronze medal.
