September 2005 Navigating the Move to Middle School

Dear Parents,

Over the period of time I have been involved with the Lockwood School System, I have fielded a variety of questions on topics such as: Learning Disabilities, social/emotional concerns, children’s responses to traumatic events, head injuries, and study skills. Although a specific answer may not be available for each question, there is always an existing body of knowledge which we can draw from to better understand the area of concern. Through this web site, I will now be posting information on various topics which I hope will serve as a guide to general information across many areas. Most of the information posted will be extracted from other sources and reproduced with permission, while some of the content will be based on my own experiences.
