Due to budgetary reasons, the counseling staff has been reduced to two counselors from three. But, the school will continue to provide a high level of services for our Lockwood School students.

The Lockwood Schools Counseling Department provides a variety of services to support teachers, students, and parents. The counseling team is made up of Mrs. Barbara Frank for grades K-2 and grade 4. Mrs. Jayme Wilder services grade 3, 5, and 6-8.

Lockwood Schools also has a Mental Health Team which includes the counselors and school psychologist, Dwight Von Schriltz. More about the team and what it provides for the students and families will be posted at a later date.

Red RibbonRed Ribbon Week

The counseling team helps to promote Red Ribbon Week each year. This week, which is usually recognized in the month of October, is a time devoted to creating a healthy, drug free future for America. Schools, community groups, governments, and business increase their drug prevention efforts in October due to this nationwide event. It is an ideal way for people and communities to unite and take a visible stand against drugs. Good Character traits and positive choices are emphasized in addition to the need for living free from drugs.

The Red Ribbon Campaign was started in 1985, and has continued to be a tradition as Red Ribbons are displayed as a symbol of intolerance towards the use of drugs. The mission of the Red Ribbon Campaign is to present a unified and visible commitment towards the creation of a Drug-Free America.

Special events related to the week will be posted in the fall.
