TITLE:	Extended Studies Coordinator
REPORTS TO:	Building Principals and Superintendent
SUPERVISES (if applicaable):	N/A
JOB DEFINITION OR GOAL:	Provide services for Extended Studies students which will result in their identification; the cooperative design of an educational plan reflective of individual student interests and the development of a differentiated curriculum for those students.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILIIES:

1. Assists teachers in recognizing and meeting the needs of Extended Studies students in the regular classroom setting.
   
   
2. Provides each parent of the Extended Studies students an opportunity to become an integrated part of their child's learning process.
   
   
3. Facilitates the involvement of community resources for Extended Studies programs.
   
   
4. Follows an accepted plan for identification of students.
   
   
5. Sets up a plan of study for each identified student reflecting his/her interests and needs.
   
   
6. Works with the classroom teachers and other appropriate personnel in correlating the Extended Studies program with the regular classroom instruction.
   
   
7. Provides in-service training for school staff on the program.
   
   
8. Reports to the superintendent and principals input regarding the program.
   
   
9. Holds conferences with teachers, parents and students regarding the program.
   
   
10. Evaluates the program and reports the results to the superintendent.
    
    
11. Develops a resource data bank for the program.
    
    
12. 1Leads the Extended Studies Advisory Committee.
    
    
13. Assists students in creating and publishing knowledge on the web.

DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1. 1. Holds a current Montana teaching certificate with proper endorsements in assigned area.
2. At least two years experience in classroom teaching.
3. Demonstrates an understanding of higher level thinking skills, research practices and accessing information; or alternatives to the above qualifications as the board may find appropriate and acceptable.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works inside, but some duties and practice drills will be performed outside, including recess, field trips, fire drills, etc.  The employee must be able to meet deadlines with severe time constraints.  The employee is directly responsible for the safety and well being of students.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but at times can be noisy.

The employee must work well under pressure to meet multiple and sometimes competing deadlines. The employee shall, at all times, demonstrate cooperative behavior with colleagues and supervisors.
