Job Description

TITLE: Baker
REPORTS TO: Food Service Manager
SUPERVISES (if applicaable): N/A
JOB DEFINITION OR GOAL: To serve the students attractive, nutritious meals which meet all of the USDA requirements and follow the Food Guide Pyramid, in an atmosphere of efficiency, cleanliness and friendliness.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILIIES:

  1. Assumes responsibility to efficiently and skillfully prepare all baked products.

  2. Assumes responsibility for any advanced preparation.

  3. Assumes responsibility for proper storage of unused baked products.

  4. Is responsible for cleaning of all ovens.

  5. Assists with daily cleaning, dishwashing, table washing and any other cleaning as requested by the manager.

  6. Assists in putting away stocks in the cooler, freezer and storerooms.

  7. Efficiently, skillfully and safely operates and cares for appliances and equipment.

  8. Assists in the serving of food.

  9. Reports to the manager ideas that will add to the efficiency of the work in the kitchen and cafeteria.

  10. Maintains regular and reliable attendance.

  11. Attends meetings and in-service as required.

DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Shall possess a high school diploma or GED.
  2. Prior experience in food service baking and quantity food preparation.
  3. Ability to effectively manage time and responsibilities.
  4. Ability to work effectively during rush conditions.
  5. Ability to adapt well to changing situations.
  6. Must enjoy working with children.
  7. Maintain cooperative relationship with students, faculty, staff and parents.
  8. Current tuberculosis test required being on file.
