May 2018 New York City/Washington, D.C. Trip

Washington Monument Each May eighth grade students have an opportunity to go on a school trip to visit Washington, D.C. and usually another large city in the east. In 2018 the trip will take students to New York City as well as Washington, D.C.

On the 2018 trip you will have the opportunity to travel with your friends for five days and see the following incredible locations: National Mall, Washington Monument, Petersen House and Ford’s Theatre;  Jefferson, FDR, and MLK Jr. Memorials; Arlington National Cemetery - Burial grounds for American Military personnel, Changing of the Guard, Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Robert E. Lee Mansion, and Kennedy gravesites; Iwo Jima Memorial, U.S. Capitol Building, Library of Congress and Supreme Court, United States Holocaust Memorial Museum; Lincoln, Korean, Vietnam, and WWII Memorials; Mt. Vernon - George Washington’s home and plantation; Old Town Alexandria - One of the oldest and most historic American cities; Smithsonian Museums, Baltimore Inner Harbor and Fort McHenry - birthplace of the National Anthem; Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island; Lower Manhattan - Ground Zero, Wall Street, the New York Stock Exchange, Federal Hall, and Trinity Church; Chinatown, optional Broadway Show, possible baseball game, Empire State Building observatory, Central Park, Grand Central Station, Rockefeller Center, and shopping in Times Square.

Information about the trip, committee meetings, and planned fundraisers will be posted here during the school year.
